film stillUsing only archive and unpublished material, YUGOSLAVIA: ORIGINS OF A WAR provides a detailed background to the ethnic conflicts in the former Yugoslavia.

This film examines the fighting's roots beginning with the creation of Yugoslavia, through World War II, and then the arrival of Tito and his "federal model" - a structure that collapsed almost as soon as it's founder died.

The program goes on to show how the rise of extreme nationalism in the republics in the early 1980s led to "civil" war - a scenario repeated all over Eastern Europe.
